I've been into concocting and drinking smoothies for years, taking it back to my days running for the University of Alabama and then being a personal trainer and college coach. Smoothies are a delicious, fun, easy way to JAM pack a wide-variety of nutrients into a small serving!! I'm sure I'll be posting about some of my other fav smoothie recipes, but for today, I'll share with you my Magical Chia Pet Rainbow Smoothie...
Magical Chia Pet because it has chia seeds in it and chia seeds are AWEsome! FULL of nutrients, omega 3's, fiber, etc.. and the ancient Aztecs prized these little seeds more than gold! And Rainbow because it changes colors - it begins a beautiful golden hue and ends in a berry delightful one :)
Having a good quality blender is very important and really does make a difference when it comes to texture and taste of your smoothies. You especially need a great one if you do green smoothies that incorporate a lot of leafy greens and veggies - a poorly blended green smoothie will make you gag, think it's impossible for it to taste good and will probably turn you off forever. Green smoothies can taste amazing, I promise! I use the Vitamix Blender because I know it will get a lot of use and to me, it was simply worth the investment for my health!
