Throughout the years I have come to very clearly know and understand how toxic, pointless and exhausting worrying is. I firmly believe that we absolutely have the ability to create each day and in turn, create our lives based upon the thoughts we allow ourselves to think and from that, the emotions we feel and vibrations we put out. Thankfully I have gotten pretty good at recognizing a worried or fear-based thought instantly (they typically begin with "what if" or a feeling of anxiety) and then trying to replace it with either thinking of at least three things I'm grateful for, something I have to look forward to, or looking around and seeing all the many reasons I should be feeling joy, rather than fear.
If our thoughts, expectations and vibrations create our world AND determine what flows to us, I think it's vitally important to choose good-feeling thoughts and to do your very best to maintain your positivity at all costs. I'm not saying you can never feel sad and I certainly still have my days, but keep yourself in check and try to pivot your thoughts from negative to positive.
Remember, it's impossible to feel bad if you're thinking happy thoughts, so if you're down in the dumps... your thoughts are off!
To further reinforce my point, you can't go wrong with Buddha's words of wisdom...
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought."
Keri's story is so powerful, moving and unbelievable that I'm not exactly sure where to start but I guess I'll begin by saying I felt blessed to be able to work with her and help cover her story for a brand new series on the Discovery Television Network called "Dates From Hell."
Keri is a super, duper smart lady working a high-powered job at ESPN and her true story of how she fought off her attacker was selected to be the premier episode for Discovery ID - initially airing Wednesday July 11 at 10p Eastern (with a multitude of reruns to follow, so just tune in every Wednesday night:) You'll have to watch her 30-minute epsidode for the full report but in a nutshell, Keri traveled to Italy with a friend and on her last day there was introduced to a well-known local who happened to be an artist. What appeared to be a very innocent chat with the man ended up being the most horrific day of all as she ended up having to fight for her life, jump from a 6th floor patio (praying she'd land on the balcony below, which she miraculously did!), jump from rooftop to rooftop, convince a family to let her escape through their apartment and race back to her hotel!!
The most amazing part of Keri's story is that she not only fought back once, but twice because she was scheduled to fly home in just a couple of hours but decided to stay to file a police report and make sure her attacker didn't get away with anything. Keri hired a legal team in Italy, flew back in forth from the U.S. to Rome trying to ensure he'd be punished and after a year long investigation he was charged with sexual assault and assault and faced up to 12 years in jail. Ultimately, he plea-bargained, and on April 22, 2010, he received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 10 days, which means he didn't go to jail. However, he is on probation for the next five years, and if he commits another crime of any kind during that time, he will go straight to prison. He was also ordered to pay all of Keri's legal fees, which amounted to about $10,000.

Here are the pics from our day together on set ::
A healthy habit I have developed is this:
Every night before I go to bed I take a few moments to think about the best parts of my day, the things I'm most grateful for. If there were moments that were negative or if anything happened that I wish I would've handled better - I play that event out in my mind but see it happening in the more positive light, pretty much like recreating it in your mind but with a better outcome :)
Lastly, I think about the next day and begin each thought with "wouldn't it be AWEsome if ___________."
When you take just five minutes to do this, you're sealing up the current day with thoughts of gratitude and setting up your next day with positive energy and that = miraculous, magical results!
I took this pic in my 'hood in the BK!
What can I say, you gotta love kids! The things in life that can easily bring joy to our world are many times overlooked, taken for granted, or because they take place on a daily basis we begin to look at them as ordinary things as opposed to what AWE-inspiring daily miracles they actually are; I think being around kids and having conversations with young people falls into that category.
Because I'm not a mother yet and am pretty rarely around kids, I always notice what fun, fresh energy and vitality they carry with them! I also love when I have the chance to sit down and talk with my little brothers or nieces because oftentimes the advice I give out to them are words I needed to hear myself ;)
This is just a reminder for YOU to take notice of what occurs in your daily life that you're probably forgetting to see the miracle in. In the course of your day, what happens that could bring inspiration and empowerment into your world if you really stopped for a second to see the magic in it?
It can be as simple as:
Being able to smell your delicious morning coffee! Not everyone has the sense of smell!!
Looking up to the sky and pondering the vastness of our world and endless possibilities!
Smiling!! A simple smile from someone or to someone can transform an entire day!!
Listen! There's someone on my block that practices the saxophone and it's SO glorious, it fills our whole street with magic.
Just try to be more appreciative of your senses because we really do live in a magical world.
If you choose to see it as such :)
Here's an important message we should think of everyday when awakening - it is absolutely, positively our very own choice as to how we want to feel and how we want to approach each day. We are in charge of our own happiness and if you ever look to someTHING or someONE else to provide happiness for you, it will never come.
Empower your mind and your day and choose happy, positive thoughts because that is what we all deserve!! This life is meant to be one of joy, learning, gaining strength and reaching for better feeling thoughts.
I guarantee this - if you take the next 10 seconds to think of three things that make you happy and that you're grateful for - that will get you on a better feeling wavelength and draw other happy thoughts and experiences to the rest of your day and THAT is empowerment and THAT is AWEsome!! <3
Aight AWEstruckers! Let's get down and dirty!! If you REALLY want to receive all you ever dreamed of and you want your aspirations to flow, you've got to allow it all in!!
AWEsecret- breathing deep and chanting HU. The HU technique has been around since the Egyptians, is simple and uses a sound like -HUUUUUUU.
HU is a mantra in which many say will help you raise your vibrations and help you connect to your higher power. It has also been said to bring guidance to those who have questions.
Each person’s experience is unique. You may feel grounded or balanced.
So, no excuses, just sit down for at least five minutes and do it! Sit comfortably, inhale deeply and while exhaling chant (aloud or in your mind) HU (pronounced hugh). This sacred and spiritual sound will get you centered and clear and only with your mind right can your life be all that it can be.
AWEstruck Thought For A Lifetime...
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do."
:: Marianne Williamson
I am a quote junkie and this one has always been one of my favorites because it's so powerful and resonates SO deeply! I hope it feels right to you and allows you to let go and know it's more than ok to let your true & brightest light shine - it's why we are all here!!
Marianne Williamson is absolutely, positively, an In AWE with ALY FAV <3
Sometimes feeling empowered really is as easy as a walk in the park :)
There have been days were my intuition was screaming at me to "GO OUTSIDE! GET OUTSIDE" and when I've obliged, I've been amazed at how instantly refreshed, empowered, and revitalized I am.
Being in AWE with the world around is as simple as really looking at your surroundings. Make sure you take a second to realize when you're in your head and thinking when you could be taking a deep breath in and seeing all the beauty around. Listen to the wind in the trees, laugh at the chubby little birds, smell a flower, notice the sky, smell the smells.
Soak nature in because it truly, truly is astounding and I promise you will feel more empowered just by taking a look around!!
